2009
Meg (14) & Chandler (13) meet at musical theatre summer camp: a week-long workshop for West Side Story. They become fast friends, though Chandler makes it clear he’s interested in more than that.
Tragically, neither of them ends up with a leading role in this production.
2010
A year of friendship later, Meg (15) looks at Chandler (14) across the room at a party, and realizes she like likes him. She quickly breaks up with her current boyfriend, and calls Chandler to confess her love. Luckily, he still reciprocates it and they start dating in July.
They are each other’s first “I love you”, and Chandler asks Meg to homecoming with a dozen roses. He claims he’ll love her until the last one dies. (It’s romantic and not terrible; one is a fake flower!)
Chandler promises he is going to marry her one day when they are grown up.
Due to the passions of youth, they break up in November.
2011 - 2018
They manage a sort-of friendship for the next year or so, but slowly lose touch throughout high school.
2018
This summer, one of their mutual friends from high school unexpectedly passes away. Meg reaches out to Chandler to give him the news, and they find they’ve really missed each other’s friendship. And even though Meg is in New York, and Chandler in Colorado (moving soon to Arizona), Chandler wastes no time pursuing romance again.
When asked how he could be so certain of his feelings so soon, he states:
“You’re the best person I’ve ever known. Now that you’re back in my life, of course I have to try again.”
Chandler visits Meg later that summer, and it’s like no time has passed. But his audio program in Arizona means he’ll be trying for internships in both New York and L.A., and ultimately, he decides to move to L.A.
Meg, famously practical, says, “Well, give me a call if you decide to move to New York someday!”
2020
The winter of 2020 finds Chandler moving back to Denver after a couple of years in L.A. When Meg visits Denver for Christmas, Chandler asks her to grab an outdoor coffee on December 26th. They accidentally spend the entire day together and when he drops her off, he asks,
“What are you doing tomorrow?”
They see each other every day for the next week.
2021
After Meg goes back to New York after the holidays, they continue to Facetime once a week under the premise of a “book club”, reading Dune together.
(To this day, Chandler has not finished reading Dune.)
Over these weekly calls and many, many texts, their love grows again. So during March, they decide to take a month-long road trip in Colorado to work remotely, and more importantly, figure out if this thing is seriously going to happen this time.
Meg tells most people she is going on a road trip with a friend, because she might not be ready to admit she kind of knows she is in love again.
During the third week of the trip, Chandler signs an April 1st lease for an apartment in Brooklyn. His family is not at all surprised by this news.
2022, and so on
Meg & Chandler learn so much about how to truly, deeply, love another person;
they figure out how to sacrifice for each other and fight fair and build a whole life together.
Their friends and family become shared, they travel well,
they play too many board games, and eat a ton of tasty snacks.
They discover how much they don’t know about each other and promise to keep finding out.
And they decide to live loving each other forever.

Chandler asks: “Will you marry me?”
Meg accidentally reaches for the ring before he finishes the sentence.
